At 07.00 hrs depart Georgetown by vehicle along the Linden Soesdyke Highway and onto the Linden to Lethem Dirt Road, with stops at Mabura for meals etc. before arriving at Kurupukari on the Essequibo River. Crossing is by barge onto the Iwokrama Rainforest Reserve & Field Station Lodge.  In the afternoon experience the nearby trails with an Iwokrama Ranger. In the evening, venture out on the Essequibo River, caiman spotting. Overnight Iwokrama River Lodge (D).

Day 2: Atta Lodge & Canopy Walkway

After breakfast continue by vehicle thru the forest reserve, which is one of the best places to see the jaguar. Common along the trails are Black Currasow, Macaws, Toucans, Red romp Agouti etc onto the entrance to Atta Lodge and Canopy walkway. The Iwokrama Canopy Walkway is situated at Mauisparu, 73kms south of the Iwokrama Field Station & River Lodge. The walkway has four suspension bridges leading to three platforms, the highest of which extends 30 metres above the forest floor and provides a good opportunity to see lots of bird. From this tree top vantage you can sometimes see Red Howler Monkeys and Black Spider Monkeys. Enjoy a full day exploring the forest around Atta Lodge, and also the clearing around the lodge, where you will have an excellent chance of spotting the Crimson Fruit Crow. Overnight at Atta Rainforest Lodge (BLD).

Day 3: Canopy Walk & Departure

At 06.00 hrs experience the dawn chorus of the forested canopy.  Amongst the likely highlights are Painted, Brown-throated and Golden-winged Parakeets, Caica Parrot, Guianan Puffbird, Waved and Golden-collared Woodpeckers and Spot-tailed, Todd’s and Ash-winged Antwrens.  The walkway is also an excellent place to look for various species of cotinga including the poorly known and range-restricted Dusky Purpletuft and if there are any suitable fruiting trees nearby, we stand a good chance of seeing this bird, as well as the more widespread Purple-breasted Cotinga. At 10.00 hrs depart by vehicle for Georgetown with stops for meals etc.  Traffic is only very occasional and wildlife is often seen along the road, such as Agouti, Tayra, Puma, Tapir and Black Curassow.  (B).
